After a 4 day whirlwind trip, driving more than 1000km of the Irish countryside and eating more than my body can handle, I finally found a quick half hour to go to Boots before jetting back home. Yet with slight disappointment I left with a mere 5 purchases. Maybe I was overwhelmed by the beauty of Boots, maybe I was taking this ‘budget’ thing seriously for once, or maybe I found too many things that I can find cheaper at home. But either way my head sagged as I walked away with my few purchases. Yet after careful consideration, and a few trial runs I’ve come to be quite delighted with my small Boots haul.
Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot Powder – Many of the bloggers that I follow rave about this product. Although SDM (Shoppers Drug Mart) carries a few Soap & Glory products, they never carry any of the makeup line. As I stood in front of the Soap & Glory section overwhelmed, I chose this powder seeing as its the one I’ve heard the most about. I’ve only used it once so far and I liked the results, but I’ll have to see how it compares against my ever-trusty Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.
Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips – This Vaseline lip product is similar to the original petroleum jelly based Vaseline product, although this is specifically formulated for your lips. Made with rose and almond oils, the lip jelly leaves a pink glossy finish with a great scent. I do believe that SDM sells Vaseline lip products, but I have never seen one of these lip therapy products before.
RealTechniques Blush Brush – You’ve probably heard me rave about RealTechniques brushes already. They are by far the best makeup brushes out there, so of course I had to get another one. They are very hard to find in Canada, yet sold at all Boots. Little hint: if you are willing to battle through the beauty aisles of Winners they may sometimes be found there.
No7 Beautifully Matte Makeup Base – No7 can be found in SDM but not a huge selection. Seeing as No7 is a Boots brand, they have large sections such as what you would find in the SDM Beauty Boutique. I’ve heard that No7’s primers are some of their best products so I thought I’d give this one a try. I’ve used it once so far and was a little disappointed…the texture is quite thick and seemed to flake a little when I smoothed it across my face. Maybe I need to try a different method of application. This product is still on the fence.
Barry M Eyeshadow Pencil – This product was a quick pick that I didn’t give much thought to. I’ve heard a lot about Barry M and we cannot find it anywhere in Canada according to my knowledge. I’ve had a thing for eyeshadow pencils and creamier eyeshadows lately so I thought I’d give this one a try. I’m not quite sure why I chose such a dark colour, but I think it’ll be great for nights out. I’m really looking forward to giving this one a try!!
So there you have it! I can’t wait to see if these products are winners. Do you ever shop at Boots? What are your favourites?!
Honestly how cute is the packaging for the soap and glory! Sometimes I think I buy their products purely because of how lovely they look in the bathroom! xo
