As many of you know, this Canadian winter has sucked. This week is the coldest in recorded Toronto history for this time of year. It should be wet and muddy, cool and crisp, the trees should be budding and flowers should be growing. Yet no matter what the thermometer outside my window might say, I’m taking charge and starting my own personal spring cleaning – from the inside out.
This winter I’ve been stuck in some sort of weird hibernation mode. I haven’t wanted to leave the house, and I’ve done nothing but eat. Anything I can get my hands on, and usually disgustingly fatty carb-ridden delights. So it’s time for my spring cleaning to start. I’m not sure I’m one for ‘cleanses’ and I’m not very good at dieting. But I’m turning over a new leaf (or pile of snow) and I’m ready for a healthy and fresh start. My 3 month non-travel stint at work is coming to an end, and I’m about to head back out on the road. So this is the best time to give myself a kick in the butt.
I headed to the local grocery store today, and wielding my list I filled my cart with my healthy start. Tons of greens, raw nuts, and protein!! It’s just a start mind you, healthy can get pricey. But hopefully I can keep up the healthy start and turn it into a true spring cleaning. Watch out summer, I’m going to look and feel fabulous! Now to just bide my time until the local summer farmers market starts back up and I can get fresh produce right across the road!! Can’t wait.
How do you stay healthy? Any suggestions to help kickstart my spring cleaning?
