To conceal or not conceal. That truly is the question. Every woman would love to say that their foundation is the perfect coverage, covering all imperfections and dark spots. But this is not always the case. Concealer is an integral part of the makeup lineup so it’s important to know which one is right! Its a battle of the brands, and in this first ‘versus’ post I’ll share 4 of the budget buy concealers that I have been using.
1. MAC Select Cover-Up ($23.00) This cover up/concealer has been a repurchase of mine over the years. I find that this one is the most perfect blend and match to my skin. Yet as much as it perfectly blends with my foundation, I find that its not always pigmented enough to truly cover any imperfections I have, most importantly the dark circles under my eyes. And I don’t quite like the fact that I need to apply it with either my fingers or a concealer brush, such as the Quo Concealer Brush. Great blend, not great coverage. And don’t make the mistake that I used to do and cake it on. No need for cake eyes.
2. Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer ($7.99) My favourite. I’ve heard that this one is a dupe for the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch concealer. And it’s the cheapest of all the ones I’ve used!! The perfect coverage, formula, highlighting, etc. And to my delight it comes in pen form, although I usually use an additional brush in order to blend it really well. This one wins my battle.
3. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser ($8.99) This one is probably my runner up. Seeing as dark circles are always my number one concern for concealing purposes, this one caught my attention. With a spongy applicator, I don’t always feel the need to blend with additional brushes. The formula is not always the greatest coverage, but thankfully this one doesn’t cake! So it doesn’t matter if you add a little more!
4. L’Oreal MagicLumi Concealer ($10.97) This concealing pen not only covers the darkest of imperfection, but can also be used for contouring and highlighting. And again, in pen form! So with a great blend and highlighting coverage, this one scored high in my books. But be careful, it cakes easily.
Which are you favourite under-eye concealer? Have you ever tried any of these? Any suggestions for high-end concealers?
Loved this post! I currently use the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer, it doesn’t completely cover up my under eye circles, but it covers enough for me to be comfortable with. I really want to try out the benefit boing concealer but I’m not sure if there shades go pale enough hahaha!
Thanks for reading! I also want to try the benefit, and unfortunately we can’t get Collection Cosmetics in Canada, but I’ve heard amazing things
Aw no way! Thats such a shame! And no problemo, I love reading your posts :D
