Just over a year ago I shared a DIY project with you: The homemade winter turban headband. You can read the original post here. Since the days are getting shorter and the air is getting colder (and since my little ears are screaming at me), I thought it was time to re-bundle ourselves up in some warm and cozy homemade knit winter wear.
Now my knitting journey leaves a lot to be desired. I can pretty much only knit a straight line and maybe sometimes throw a simple cable knit in there. Scarves are really the full extent of my knitting abilities. But as you can see in my original Turban Headband post, I found a pattern that is so easy anyone can do it. Seriously! Anyone. For the past year my little fingers have been knitting away on this pattern, I could do it in my sleep now! I’ve made them for everyone. I gave several away as Christmas gifts last year, sold some at an art sale, and kept a few for myself! They are one of the most simple gifts to give.
I’ve seen many girls buying similar headbands in Club Monaco, Urban Outfitters, J.Crew, etc….all for over $30!! In the past year I’ve made about 10 of them for less than that. All you need is a little patience, a comfortable spot and a good movie and you can create some wonderful homemade knit Christmas gifts!! So get at it people!! Start saving those dolla bills and start taking the time to create something. It doesn’t have to be knitting, but be creative this Christmas and give homemade gifts. Or just take the time to make yourself something your ears will thank you for!
Have you made any homemade winter wear this year?! I’m open for pattern sharing.
Love this! :)
