Although I’m a rural girl at heart, I have always lived close to the city of Toronto. Just 20 minutes to downtown by train is close enough for me; not smack dab in the middle of the hustle and bustle, but conveniently close enough to enjoy it whenever I want to. The holiday season is always a time I enjoy Toronto. The shop windows, the lights, the CN Tower flashing red and green. It’s a magical time. But this year I especially felt the Torontonian Christmas magic when I went to the Toronto Christmas market located in the Distillery District.
Christmas Markets have been a tradition around the world for hundreds of years. Originating from Germany in the early 1400s, these street markets celebrate the traditional sounds, smells and sights of Christmas and are being held all around the world. I’m not quite sure how long the Toronto Christmas Market has been a tradition, but I had never heard of it before this year and I’m so glad that I got to go. It was one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen in Toronto.
The Toronto Christmas Market is open at the historic Distillery District until December 21st! Go get some turkey legs and mulled wine and enjoy the amazing sights and smells of Christmas!!
