We all have those times when we’re feeling a little “blah”. It’s the perfect word for it. It captures that down and dreary feeling of being underwhelmed, without being able to put your finger on it. There’s nothing specific we hate or can narrow it down to. We’re just unimpressed with our looks at present and feel like we need a spruce up. There can be many reasons why we end up feeling this way. Maybe we’ve become run down with work commitments or family life. Maybe we haven’t had any social occasions or reason to dress up and so we’ve just taken the easy road. It could be something more serious like we’re recovering from illness or injury. Whatever the reason, the feeling of “blah” doesn’t have to be permanent. In fact, you can go from “blah” to babe with a few easy suggestions. If you’re feeling rundown and underwhelming, try the tips below to put a spring back into your step.
This is perhaps the most obvious step. But if you’re feeling less than pretty, there’s a good chance you haven’t taken any time out for yourself. A pamper night at home or a spa day with friends can be a wonderful way to reverse the trend. It can seem like a superficial solution, but actually looking more perky and pretty on the outside can improve the way we feel inside too. At its best, pampering ourselves can boost both our mood and confidence. When we’re feeling unattractive, many of us consider steps like weight loss or even breast enhancement surgery (which I’m not suggesting!) But there are easy steps we should take first. Try a full body exfoliation to eliminate toxins, banish cellulite and feel invigorated. Apply a luxurious balm or body oil to feel fresh, fragrant and moisturised all day long. Our hands and feet can be one of the first areas to show fatigue and a lack of self care. So spruce them up with an at home manicure and pedicure. It can be as simple as a nail trim and moisturise, or slick on a bright coat of polish to feel instantly more alive.
Invest In the Basics
It can be tempting to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe when we’re feeling low. But wait! Put that wallet away. Investing in the basics or items that we wear regularly can be all it takes to feel like a new person. White and black tees, a great pair of jeans, and a well-fitting jacket can be enough to make several other outfits. If we feel like the clothes we’re wearing are fresh and flattering, we’ll feel more confident and pulled together. It’s not always necessary to buy something bright or crazy to feel like we’re making an effort with style. Invest in the basics and you’ll always look chic and timeless.
This step might not show immediate results on the outside. But overtime it is guaranteed that you will both look and feel better. If you’re feeling “blah” and unattractive, it can be easy to consider the outside. But what about the inside? Feeling energised and attractive can start from within. Clean up your diet and double your veggies. Stay hydrated and get outdoors. It can be tempting to lie on the couch with a bottle of wine when we feel unattractive, but it becomes a vicious cycle. Spend time in the sun (don’t forget the SPF), breathe deeply, and enjoy life. A smile is the best accessory.
