Recent Reads and Netflix Needs #3

I really need to stop watching reruns. Like seriously! I’ve already seen it and it probably wasn’t good the first time round anyways. But when I come home from work I find I want to completely turn off; vegetate and watch some sort of mindless crap – I have a really hard time concentrating. But I guess, in these re-watching times, you realize that these were shows that stood out to you in some way, at least enough for you to go back to them. So why not share those with you?

Netflix needs – yes, cause we NEED Netflix. What was our life like before it? I can’t remember, can you? I finally finished watching The Office and immediately wanted to start again. But I don’t think my emotions could handle it. So I turned to the mindless – Archer. Seen it? Turned off by the fact that its a cartoon? Don’t be. It’s absolutely brilliant and hilarious and so far from appropriate for children that you’ll forget it’s a cartoon. Is it okay to have a crush on a cartoon character? And for a few more serious moments when I’m willing to be completely crushed by the g-forces on the emotional roller coaster from Stephen Moffat, I’ve been rewatching Doctor Who. Yes, I may not really seem like the Whovian type. But hands down Doctor Who is the best thing on television. Oh, David Tenant, how I miss you. But OH THE FEELS!! And in movies – The Martian. Man I wish I had seen that in theatres. I really loved it.

I’ve finally got my hands on a few good books lately too. I’ve been utterly desperate for some good reads lately as everything I’ve picked up in the past year has basically been rubbish. I finally picked up “Girl on the Train” by Paula Hawkins and I’m kicking myself for not picking it up sooner. Totally my kind of book. It’s a little bit of oddity mixed up in something that really makes you think. Albeit the alcoholic protagonist did make me want to stop drinking forever (only downside to this otherwise awesome book). I also devoured “Me Before You” by Jojo Moyes. I had it on my Kobo before the movie came out as I always want to read the book first. And with so much hype around the movie I was pushed to read it ASAP. And DAMN! I’m not usually one for chick flicks and romance novels – but this was definitely one of the best books I’ve read in awhile. I want to unread it so I can read it again for the first time. Can that be possible?

What have you read lately? Any suggestions?
