Your big day is looming, and understandably, you want to look and feel your best when you walk down to that aisle to adoring glances. If you’re preparing to be the blushing bride and you’re hoping to look radiant on your wedding day, the first place to start is your skin. Here are some hints and tips to help you achieve that gorgeous bridal glow.
Getting your skin care routine right
If you don’t currently have a skin care routine, now is the time to make a few changes. Looking after your skin can improve the clarity of your complexion and make your skin feel softer and smoother. You don’t have to invest in the latest skin care innovations or products that cost more than your wedding gown, but it’s important to give your skin some TLC. Start the day by cleansing and moisturising and repeat at night. Avoid going to sleep with your makeup on, even if you don’t tend to wear much during the day. Washing your face removes impurities and helps to prevent your pores getting clogged. If you have specific issues, such as dark circles, for example, you can add eye cream or serum to your daily routine. If you have sensitive, dry or oily skin, make sure you buy products that are suited to your skin type. It’s worth getting into a regime a few months before the wedding. It’s best to avoid introducing new products at a late stage, just in case you do experience an adverse reaction.
Drinking water
There are few things that are better for your skin than ensuring that you drink plenty of water. You may have noticed that your skin is the most visible indicator of a heavy night, and this is largely due to dehydration. When you’re not hydrated, the skin looks dull, and it may feel dry and flaky. Aim to drink at least 2 litres of water per day. If you struggle to hit the target, carry a bottle around with you.
Swerving the sun
Most brides like a hint of colour of their big day, but if you’re after a golden glow, it’s wise to stick to a bottle or book a spray tan. Sunbathing may make you feel like a bronzed goddess, but the sun’s UV rays are incredibly damaging to the skin cells. Exposure to the sun accelerates the ageing process, and it can also put you at risk of skin cancer. If you are out in the sun, make sure you wear lotion and avoid the midday hours when the rays are at their most powerful.
Booking a makeup trial
Most brides opt for a natural look on their wedding day. Ideally, your wedding makeup should enhance your natural beauty and make you look like the best version of yourself. You don’t want to go for a look that’s completely different to what you’d usually go for unless you’re having a themed wedding. Book a makeup trial, try out some different products and take some images and photographs with you.
Are you counting down the days until you walk down that aisle and make your vows? If you’re about to be a blushing bride, hopefully, these tips will help you to look and feel a million dollars.
