It’s a question that isn’t normally asked. This is usually because everyone has their own definition of beauty—it’s not an objective thing. Scientists have even tried to identify what makes someone beautiful. They’ve even given us an idea of what the “perfect” face would be, but it’s far from what most people would consider as the prettiest face.
A side effect to this idea of beauty is that some people are willing to go to great lengths just to reach a level of beauty they want. So from extreme beauty treatments to sticking needles in your face, let’s take a look at some wild things people do to look their best.
Dieting is one of the most common ways to get the body that you want. Whether it’s cutting out certain foods or switching your sources of nutrients, it’s important to look at what you eat when you want to look your best. However, people go to extreme lengths just to cut weight and transform their bodies. For instance, some models work out several times a day and drink only protein shakes prior to a show or event. This is so they can look their best when they appear on the catwalk, but it’s incredibly dangerous to fast or take in so few calories. As a result, it gives people the impression that you need to starve yourself and stick to a liquid diet just to get that look. While dieting can be taken incredibly seriously and, in some cases, reach incredible extremes, it’s important to remember that you should never attempt an extreme diet unless you have medical supervision guiding you.
Whether it’s a facelift or laser hair removal, cosmetic surgery is another extreme that is spurred on by the idea of shaping yourself to achieve the perfect body. While some people prefer to do this naturally by working on their skincare regime, eating a healthy diet and targeting certain parts of their body with workouts, others prefer to take more permanent and drastic measures such as visiting an aesthetic medical clinic. No matter how well you look after your body and how many supplements you take, the reality is that you can’t mould your body into the perfect shape with just your diet and health alone. This is why some women have breast augmentation surgery and also why some men have rhinoplasty (nose job) surgeries.
Do needles scare you? If so, then you might want to skip this section! Derma rollers have become popular over the past couple of years thanks to their benefits and the science behind how they work. It works by piercing your skin with very fine needles to help stimulate the production of collagen. This helps to eliminate acne scars, wrinkles, cellulite and even stretch marks. However, these benefits sometimes aren’t worth what you’re essentially doing with a derma roller; sticking needles into your skin. There are different lengths of needles that are designed for certain parts of your body. For example, short needles are designed for facial use and longer ones for the body. Since you’re tricking your skin into thinking it needs to repair itself, you’ll actually bleed a little, so this definitely isn’t for the squeamish! You even need to numb your face before you use a derma roller so that it doesn’t hurt as much.
