Self esteem seems to be in short supply these days, and you don’t have to be a genius studying media patterns to learn why. For both men and women, there’s a very specific body type that’s heralded by everyone working in the image industry, and thus the common folk suffer as a result. So, learning to love yourself as you are is a big step a lot of people are in constant reach for. It can be a simple or difficult process, depending on who you are and where you came from. However, there’s a few tips and tricks we can do for ourselves to help us in our journey. Here’s some ideas!

Try Talking to Yourself in the Mirror

Fake it til you make it! That’s often the advice of the professionals, and it works wonders when you keep to it. Often the uplifting compliments we see on the internet do nothing to lift our spirits, and thus we have to do the work for ourselves.

Go to your mirror in the morning and say to yourself how good you look. Pick out the parts of your face or body that you like and comment on them to yourself, no matter how weird it feels. Soon enough, you’ll start to believe what you’re telling yourself and you won’t have to fake your confidence anymore. It’s a great home solution, and does wonders for self esteem due to the self affirmation element.

Aim to Take Action for Yourself

Forget about other people in your plans to work on yourself, it’s time to truly do what’s right for you. Once we start making decisions based on our thoughts and feelings, we feel a lot healthier and happier.

Of course, it’s easier said than done, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to do. We have to work truly hard to do away with the comments and negativity we’ve internalised, but we can do it day by day on our way to a better self-image.

Don’t Be Afraid to Seek Solutions

Hard solutions that are practical are a wonderful addition to our lives, whether they be for the good of our health in physical or mental terms, or both. But when it comes to squashing the stereotypes of cosmetic surgery, there’s a bit of hard work to be done. However, when we see models on the television getting botox or an uplift, accept it instead of looking down on it.

We have no idea how good it can make them feel, so just let it be! Don’t be afraid to look into the options yourself, it could make life a lot easier, and you a lot happier no matter what it is.

It’s time to take power back for yourself, and do what you can and what you want to make you feel better for you. There’s plenty of ways to get yourself on track for a good end of year, and a Christmas to remember when you’re surrounded by friends and family.
