Let’s face it, many of us have some form of bucket list for traveling. It might be a short list of some of the places you want to go, or it could be extensive that’s bound to give you inspiration for all of your future travel plans. But, I’m not here to talk to you about your actual bucket list, or how you should have one, more to do with specific destinations and, one in particular, is being California.

It happens to be ranked as one of the top ten places for people to add on to their bucket list, but if you are unsure or haven’t got any idea of where California is, here’s a little background. California is a Western state in the US from the border of Mexico. One of the most iconic places in this state is Los Angeles, home to Hollywood and some of our most well-known and beloved celebrities, actors and studios where iconic films are made. However, there is more to this state than the obvious, and I wanted to share with you some of the things to see and do. Maybe it will inspire you to book your next holiday there, who knows?

Visiting Los Angeles

I had to mention a visit to LA, because no Californian trip would be complete without you walking down the Hollywood walk of fame, placing your hands on some of the iconic parts of the city, shopping on rodeo drive and taking a selfie with your favourite star on the walk of fame. It truly is a spectacular city when you watch it on the big screen, and definitely might be a worthwhile visit to tick off the bucket list.

Taking in the sights and sounds of San Francisco

You may find that a lot of Californian cities are on bucket lists and one to mention would be San Francisco. Famous for the Golden Gate bridge and Alcatraz island. There are some fantastic sights to see and tourist trips to do that can be found by doing a quick Google search online. San Francisco is also home to some of the steepest streets, which can be remembered from famous films like Mrs Doubtfire.

The all-important Californian road trip

Many people love the idea of a Californian road trip and taking in some of the lesser raved about sights, but ones still worthy of your attention. Stopping off in the capital of Sacramento, taking a visit to Monterey Beach and flying kites or whale watching. Letting a load off at hotels like the Best Western Beach Dunes Inn along the way. There are some amazing places to visit, and it could be a real adventure deciding on a road trip style holiday rather than a standard fly and hotel stay.

A trip to Disneyland isn’t just Paris or Florida

Finally, you can even visit Disneyland in California. One of the original parks, this is definitely a place for every Disney lover out there. Who needs Florida and Paris when you have one in California as well? Although let’s be fair, any Disney park is going to be a great day out, wouldn’t you agree?

I hope that this has helped you to become more informed on California and things to see and do while you are there. It’s certainly on my bucket list.
