The Best DIY HP Halloween
Halloween is upon us, with only two days left before the big day! Now we all know that Halloween is going to look a little different this year, and I hope you all keep safe and follow restrictions as laid out by your local governments, but this doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate in other ways! Virtual parties, costumes, décor, pumpkin carving! We can still do it all.
So how can we incorporate our favourite stories within the celebration? Here are a few great ideas for HP party decor and costumes:
Costumes
HP costumes are so fun, as they can range from super simple to super elaborate. It can be as simple as a small lightening scar and a pair of round glasses, or go for a specific look. Yule Ball? Quidditch? School robes?
Party Décor
The décor is where you can get really extravagant! I’m taking a page out of a friends book with these ones, and can say from personal experience that they’re a huge hit at parties.
- Use red lipstick and write “the Chamber of Secrets has been opened. Enemies of the heir beware” on a mirror
- spray paint plastic snakes silver and tape them to the side of the bathroom sink faucet as entrance to the Chamber of Secrets
- Pipe cleaner spiders following each other up a wall
- Ministry of Magic entrance sign on open toilet seat
- 4 wall banners of house colours
Party Games
Games are always a must at parties. Split everyone into house teams and compete against each other for the winner of the house cup!
Now virtual games are tricky, but are still a great way to have some fun and be safe this Halloween. My favourite virtual games usually involve trivia of some sort, and it’s so easy to do! There are plenty of trivia questions to find online!
If you’re meeting in person, a great game of Beer Pong Quidditch is super fun! Regular beer pong set up with three homemade Quidditch rings in the centre of the table.
