Like all others that are deeply in love with makeup, I tend to sometimes go a little overboard with features that are usually best left natural – such as my brows. I fill in my brows daily with this or that product, but the only thing my natural brows really need is a good brush with a spoolie. I had given up with the daily upkeep of the brow products, but it wasn’t until recently when I picked up a new Anastasia Brow Wiz that the game changed.
I’m a little late on this one. I feel that the bold brow times have started to come to an end and the natural brows are coming back. But lately I’ve been preferring a minimal makeup look with bolder brows – and I’ve got the best combo of products to do just that!
I start, of course, by making sure my brows are neatly plucked with my cute mini Tweezerman tweezers. Then the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Brown does it’s job by filling in and shaping my brows. I really love how tiny and precise the little nib pencil is. I like to use the spoolie on the end of the brush as well. Just to make sure they keep themselves nicely brushed in place for the day I use the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel. I always make sure I only have a tiny amount of the gel on my brush before actually brushing it through my brows. You only need a little but the brush holds enough to give you a perma-wet brow look. Not cool. And finally I brush everything one final time with a plain ‘ol spoolie brush. I just pick up a few every time I get my makeup done at Sephora – I don’t see the need to pay the big bucks for a spoolie.
I don’t like to go overboard with the brows still – but anyone whose seen a pic of my natural brows can see the difference here. Slightly bold – just a little different for a minimalist-bold look. What products do you like to use on your brows?
The time has come again my friends…where does it go? It’s the end of another month and hopefully the beginning of a month full of good weather, shorter dresses and more exposed toesies. But for now, we’ll just focus on the five items that got me through the past month full of new challenges, long days, and crap-tastic weather to finish it all off.
Long days and gym sessions see a need to get a good clean face on the go. It’s impossible to carry a face routine with you, and I find many wipes are harsh and extremely drying on my skin. But the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths are perfect for wiping away the sweat and makeup and leaving a fresh, well moisturizer face. Cetaphil is amazing and super gentle, so of course their wipes are just as good.
The last four are makeup products that I’ve recently added to the stash. The Bourjois Healthy Mix Powder has been added to my daily routine to finish off a fresh face, followed by perfect brows thanks to my new Anastasia Brow Wizz (yeah…I caved). A quick dab across the lids with the Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo in Tough as Taupe has been giving some really nice everyday colour. Don’t know why I didn’t get my hands on that one sooner. And to finish it all off is the perfect, everyday, me shade of lipstick! Can you marry a lipstick? It’s the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina.
What have you been loving lately??
When you go on a trip with two other beauty junkies you have some really interesting conversations. On our Boston Roadtrip last week, Sandra, Megan and I struck up the conversations of “What beauty products MUST you travel with?” All three of us had different answers, so I thought I’d share them all.
What Can’t Sandra Live Without?
- L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara
- NARS Creamy Concealer
- Anastasia Brow Wiz
- MAC Pinch Me Blush
What Can’t Megan Live Without?
- Lush Tea Tree Water Toner
- Covergirl & Olay Simply Ageless Concealer
- Maybelline Color Tattoo “Bad to the Bronze”
- NARS Orgasm Blush
What Can’t Coleen Live Without?
- RealTechniques Expert Face Brush
- NARS Orgasm/Laguna Palette
- Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
- CatWalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifying Cream
Obviously, seeing as we can’t travel without these items, they are most definitely some of our favourite products. Of course we always travel with more than only 4 products, but these are the non-negotiables. When we pack our travel bags, these items go in first.
This conversation then turned into “What non-beauty products MUST you travel with?” Our picks of favourite non-beauty travel items can be seen today on Sandra’s Blog ‘Travel With Scarves” – so check it out!!
