Benefit Gimme Brow

It’s not often that I put my trust in others with regards to my eyebrows. After several years of over plucking and over waxing in my teenage years, I’ve been going it alone and been very happy with the results for about 5 years now. But with my life being as crazy as it is lately I seem to have been slacking in my brow grooming and they took on a  life of their own. It was time to seek a professionals help. And who better than the professionals at the Benefit Brow Bar, am I right?

This was my first experience with the Benefit professionals, although not my first experience with Benefit products. I knew that Benefit was the brand to go to for brows, so fingers crossed I dove right in. I met with Kayla at the Hillcrest Mall Sephora and she set my brows straight. Every other brow experience I’ve had just went for it, but Kayla talked to me about what I like, how I care for my brows, and mapped them out for optimal growing between this appointment and next. So much care was put into it. Then a little bit of wax, little bit of pluck, and she soothingly cared for my red eyes and made them look fabulous to walk out of there.

And of course, without being pushy I might add, she suggested a new product to add to what I’m already using. She agreed that my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz was one of the best products out there, but to add to it she suggested the Benefit Gimme Brow. It’s the perfect brow gel to help shape your brows and keep them in place, as well as adding a little more oomph and colour, but not too much! Thats the important part. Most gels I’ve used make me look like I have plastic eyebrows. This is perfect. She also suggested a great technique of brushing your brows backwards, starting from the outside and working in. This really improves your brows, trust me!!

All in all and amazing experience that I’m already excited to repeat!

Top 5 – July

It’s been awhile my friends; boy, does the time get away from me. Another month come and gone and this little area of the internet starting to get away from me. With only one day this month to myself it’s been hard to keep up with the beauty world and hard to take some time for myself – to relax, to pamper, and to be creative. I’ll find it again soon. A  new month, a new start to the last little bit of summer. For the first time in eons I’ve picked up a few new bits over the past month that have put a smile on this tired, dreary, lined face.

We’ll start with the Summer base, which is the same as favourite as last Summer. It’s the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation, which I usually leave to the Summer months as I picked it up in a shade too dark. With a bit of sun it’s the perfect shade for me and the slight shimmer in the formula it certainly does help to give me a much more ‘awake’ look.

On to the new products, I’ve been absolutely loving this new shade of mine from Anastasia Beverly Hills – the liquid lipstick in the shade Vintage which you can read about here. It’s such a bright, yet deep purple that it turns heads!! I absolutely love it. I’ve also been loving a new eyeshadow primer that I’ve decided to try, the Too Faced Shadow Insurance that keeps everything perfectly in place for hours on end.

After visiting the Benefit Brow Bar early this month I’ve also been getting some amazing use from the Benefit Gimme Brow that is a highly recommended Benefit product from the Benefit Brow professionals. I’ll tell you all about my Brow Bar experience in a post all on its own. And last but not least, still impressing me at every turn, is the L.A Girl Pro. Conceal HD High-Definition Concealer. Basically on the favourites list of every beauty junkie out there…seriously guys, check it out!

The Spring Beauty Preview

It was a sunny day when I started to believe that we were seeing the beginnings of spring, only to be sorely disappointed when I woke up to more snow this morning. All Canadians can attest to the sheer joy and euphoria for the year’s first snowfall, but also to the absolute loathe and frustration felt when it’s still knee deep and blowing around come March and April. While bloggers in the UK are beginning to take those lovely shots of floppy hats and bomber jackets with a few blooming tulips in the background, I’m over here still bundled in my onesie and trying to avoid frostbite.

So while others actually get to experience the beginnings of Spring, I’m day-dreaming and thinking of all the beautiful things I’ll get to do when the snow melts. This includes the addition of many spring colours, fashions, and a new season of beauty products and releases to sink my teeth into.

This Spring season I’m looking forward to many things (and if I get a new job I may actually add a few of these to my collection). The first that excites me is the new Marc Jacobs Nude Sheer Lip Gels. I’ve never tried the Marc Jacobs lipsticks, but have been completely head over heels in love with them since they hit the shelves. The colours are amazing, the packaging is adorable, and these new gel formulas glide effortlessly over the lips, similar to the Revlon Ultra HD lipsticks which I love somuch. These new wax/gel formula’s are the bomb!

Next is the new Clinique Chubby Stick in contour and highlight. New, simple ways of contouring that don’t need specific brushes, youtube tutorials, and desperate help. Plus, everything is better in a little chubby stick form. New from Benefit this season is an addition to the Porefessional products in License to Blot. This little blotting stick is perfect to carry along and pull out when you’re in need of a blot. No powders and brushes necessary. New from The Body Shop are the 100% Natural Lip Roll-On Oil lip treatments. Oil treatments are very popular, and have proven to be very soothing and healing. I’m really looking forward to the Body Shop’s.

For the spring season, nude and white nails are completely a MUST!! With so many great quality drug store brands, and some great brands becoming even more popular there are so many great choices. These nails have been all over the fashion week runways and I’m so excited to get my nails healthy again to give them a go. What are you looking forward to this coming season?!
