Empties #2

Another empties post!! There is no greater feeling than squeezing that last little bit of product out of the bottle, so having such a large pile of empty bottles is like Christmas. And I get to share with you everything I’ve used up, loved, and whether or not I will buy them again!

Clairol CC Colorseal Conditioner – Colorseal conditioner for recently died hair. I used up this little tube after using a Clairol hair dye. The colour worked for me, but I think I need to start sucking it up and paying to get my hair professionally coloured. If you want to use from a box, the Clairol Foam works best.

Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Renewing Shampoo – I picked up this little bottle in Ulta as a sample size to test of the shampoo while I was on the road. Great sized bottle for travelling, not sold on the shampoo though. (NOPE)

Clairol Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturizing Shampoo – I finally found a great and cheap hydrating shampoo here. I’m not fond of spending the big bucks for shampoo since I seem to go through it so fast. But Hello Hydration is amazing for hydrating my frizzy hair. Curly hair needs a great hydrating shampoo like this. And I will definitely be repurchasing. (YUP)

Pantene Pro-V Restoratives Breakage Defence Conditioner – This one wasn’t my favourite. It was an impulse ‘I’m on the road and forgot my conditioner’ buy. It did the job. (NOPE)

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Colour Protecting Shampoo – I was given a stash of John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Shampoos and Conditioners and I really do love them all. This was the first of the bottles that I got through and I’m still using the rest, so I must like it! My hair isn’t really ‘coloured’ at the moment, I really need it coloured. But this does a great job sealing in that colour for weeks! (YUP)

Catwalk Curls Rock Curl Amplifier – How many times have I raved about this one before? This has been the only hair product that I have gone back to, for about 10 years in a row now. They’ve more recently changed the packaging, this is the old packaging. And the product has delivered non-stop. I have tried others, and always end up going back to this to fix what the other products have done (or not done). Great curl product (YUP!!)

The Body Shop Amazonian Wild Lily Shower Gel – I love The Body Shop’s body washes, but I didn’t really love the scent of this one. I bought this one as an obligation one day when I walked into The Body Shop and broke a bottle of perfume. I thought it was only right that I spend a ton of money after that. So as much as I love the body wash, don’t love the smell (NOPE)

The Body Shop Cranberry Joy Shower Gel – I think I have used this one almost every Christmas since I remember knowing what The Body Shop was. I love their cranberry line at Christmas time, it reminds me of the holidays!! I love putting it the bath and relaxing in the christmassy cranberry scent!! (YUP)

The Body Shop Vitamin E Body Butter – If you’ve followed my posts for awhile now you’ll understand my love of the Vitamin E line at the Body Shop. LOVE! I’ve never finished a body butter before, but this one was just amazing and I slathered it on every day since I bought the little sucker. Already repurchased, and continued love (YUP!!)

Lush The Sacred Truth Fresh Face Mask –  I just started using Lush face masks recently and I really love them. But I’ve never been able to get through the whole thing before the expiry date. This one was wheatgrass, green tea and papaya and smelt amazing!! So refreshing and relaxing. I love sitting in the bath with a face mask, or getting together with my girl friends for face masks and wine! Best feeling ever (YUP)

Lush BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask – See above explanation of Lush face mask love. This one is of course made with seaweed and really cleanses and softens the skin. Even more relaxing. Beautiful!!! (YUP)

Biotherm Biosource Tonifying Exfoliating Cleansing Gel – This was a great face cleanser and has such a relaxing smell. Great night-time cleanser. I love the packaging for travel. The tiny micro beads are great for daily exfoliating and not too harsh. Its even great for sensitive skin. I haven’t yet repurchased, but I most likely will. (YUP)

Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation – Out of all budget drug store foundations this has been the best!! Its such an amazing match to my skin and such a great formula. The bottle is only about $10! And has already been repurchased!!! (YUP!!)

And thats it!! I think it’s a little obvious I like my hair products! Have you used any of these products before? Don’t you just love empties?!

The Face Regime

Life is stressful, and schedules are constantly changing. But one thing in my life that remains consistent is my face washing regime. Nothing feels better than washing your face at the end of a long day of work. And I love nothing more than washing my face with the products that I have grown to love and trust.

My skin is not extremely sensitive, but I’m pretty picky about what I put on my face. Nothing too smelly, but a little bit smelly. Nothing too exfoliating, but maybe a little. It’s been tough finding a full regime that I like, but I’ve stuck with it and I know it works.

So, first things first. To begin with I use Lush 9 To 5 Cleansing Lotion to take off all of my eye makeup. There is nothing worse than having eyeliner left over from the night before and I hate the oily/greasy feel of liquid eye-makeup removers. This lotion is technically supposed to be used for all over face cleansing, but cleansing without water is weird. It smells great and takes the makeup off really well. After that I wash my face thoroughly. I have two different face cleansers that I like. One I use at home and one I use on the road. For home I use Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser because I absolultely love the smell and love the way it lathers. I feel so refreshed after washing my face with this. While on the road I need a face cleanser in a resealable bottle, so I use the Biotherm Biosource Tonifying Exfoliating Cleansing Gel which smells like seaweed and heaven. It doesn’t lather a lot, and is not super exfoliating. I really love this face cleanser.

About once a week I use the Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask. I put it all over my face (avoiding my eyes of course) and leave it on until it is completely dry and kinda cracking.  Then I just wash it all off, and kinda rub it in more in the process. The mask is great at pulling a lot of dirt and oils to the surface of your skin, and leaves me feeling super refreshed.

The next step is toner. For years I have used the Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2. It leaves my skin feeling really really clean and gets any dirt that I’ve missed. I find that a few days missing this step makes a huge difference and I’ll start to see more blemishes. I’ve always loved this product. For those days that I do see a few blemished I use the Burt’s Bees Blemish Stick which I just roll over the blemishes. It smells super alcohol-y and burns like crazy if your blemishes are open or irritated. But it does the job, and quick! Next morning it’s dried out and less than half the size.

And last but not least, the moisturizing step. Just like the Clinique toner, I’ve been using the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (not pictured, oops!) for years. Every other moisturizer I’ve used have been either too thick or too thin or just haven’t done the job properly. But I know I can always trust Clinique. And finally, for those long days and stressful times that the eyes get dark and puffy, I love the Roc Hydra + Anti-Fatigue. Just a little bit under the eyes and POOF, gone the next day.

So there you have it. The whole shebang! Nothing feels better than a nicely cleansed face! So whats your face regime? Have you ever used any of these products?

Whats in my Travel Bag?

As you may have already figured out, I seem to be on the road a lot. Travelling for work, visiting friends, etc. Throughout the years I’m proud to say that I’ve become quite an efficient packer, but my makeup bag is always heavier and more full then my suitcase has room for. On this trip, 3 weeks in Alberta, I decided to cut down and only bring the essentials, things that can be used in different ways in order to eliminate certain products. So what is in my travel bag you ask? Let’s see:

Face: 4 products and 2 brushes have gotten me pretty far in the past 3 weeks. I’ve come to realize that I don’t really need much more while traveling. I start off by using Benefit The Porefessional Pro Balm as a base and primer. I got a sample size from sephora a few months ago and it’s lasted me ages! Perfect travel size. Next I use the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum which I apply with the realTechniques expert face brushI’ve been following the hype about the Healthy Mix Serum and when I finally decided to try it out I think I got the wrong colour for my face. But this foundation is really buildable, and maybe I have a bit of a tan now, because it’s working wonders. The last two products are from MAC so are a little bit more pricey. I got them both as gifts. The first is the MAC Select Cover-Up in NW20. It’s perfect for brightening under my eyes. It makes the biggest difference. And finally the MAC Sunbasque Sheertone Shimmer Blush with the MAC 168SE Brush which is the most wonderful summer colour, somewhere between a blush and bronzer and giving the perfect glowy finish!

Eyes: 3 products and 1 brush. That’s all I need. First is the Lancome Colour Design Sensational Effects palette. The packaging is really compact and has a tiny amount of each shade, perfect travel size. I have 4 shades in the palette: Filigree, Model, Chic, and Couture. The first two are quite shimmery, perfect for dressing it up a little bit. And the second two are matte and together make a great smokey eye. The 4 colours really work well together and can easily be worn for work, everyday, and even for going out at night. The perfect travel foursome. I always bring along the Quo All Over Shadow Brush for that one. I love Covergirl Lash Blast Volume mascara. It doesn’t clump and can be reapplied in a few hours without caking onto the previous application. And finally, the Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner in Black. This is a liquid eyeliner pen and is incredibly simple to use. It has a felt tip that is not too thick or too thin. It’s perfect for simple thin lines for work and everyday, but is also perfect for thick liner and winged liner, great for going out and really dressing up the look. I’m a sucker for thick and winged eyeliner lately, but love having the option of normal thin lines. This is perfect, I don’t need to bring like 5 different liners.

and finally Face: My face is something that I’m not willing to compromise for, so I’m okay with lugging around bigger bottles and packages if I have to. The first is the Biotherm Biosource Tonifying Exfoliating Cleansing GelNot only does is smell like heaven, but it makes my face feel like heaven. Definitely one of the best face cleansers I’ve found in a long time. Next is the Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 which I have been using for years. Its a great toner and I’d be lost without it. A small bottle of the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion goes a long way. I find that my hands get really dry on the road, but it’s also perfect for all over body lotion. Who wants to travel with massive bottles of body lotion? Not me. And finally the Blistex Daily Conditioning Treatment Cocoa Butter. I don’t go anywhere without this. 100% the best lip conditioner I’ve ever found, and I love the smell. Absolutely amazing. I put it on before bed and wake up with the softest lips. Perfect!

Other then that, I usually have a lipstick or two in my purse (currently Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum and Revlon Super Lustrous in Mink). I’ll admit that after three weeks I’m excited to return home to a bigger variety, but for three weeks or longer on the road, these products are all I need. The perfect travel bag combination that can all be used in several different ways for several different looks.

Do you travel a lot? Whats in your travel bag?
