631 Days to Wedding Day – The Wedding Weight Loss

Wow…that’s a lot of days. But with my mind racing and the excitement building for what I’m hoping is the best day of my life, there are a few things that need to get done so time to get down to business. First and foremost, the wedding weight loss.

I’ve struggled with my weight my whole life – chubby child, insecure teen, and extreme crash dieter in my early adult years. I’ve tried it all. But over the past year I’ve truly fallen in love with working out and killing it in the gym. But, of course, it’s not all about working out. Weight loss heavily depends on your diet and what you’re eating. Without a doubt this is where I struggle. As any of my family and friends can attest, I love food and lots of it. So this journey is never an easy one. Although I seem to know what needs to be done, the follow through is not my strong suit.

My weight has changed over the past year. The number on the scale has remained the same, yet with my workouts and more active lifestyle the weight has really shifted itself around making it seem as though I’ve lost weight. Of course we all know muscle weighs more than fat, so maybe its true I’ve lost some inches. But when my pants are just as tight as they were before it’s incredibly discouraging. I get caught in bad habits: skipping meals, eating well all day only to binge at night, eating twice the amount in one sitting than someone twice my size should, etc. And after each and every meal I berate myself and get moody, wondering why I’ve caught myself up in this horrible vicious cycle once again. So with 631 days until the wedding (that’s approximately 20 months and 21 days) it’s time to get down to business.

So this is where I could certainly use some help. I’ve got the workout and the gym stuff covered! Thanks to my good friend Cynthia at Cynergy Fitness I’ve really learned how to optimize my time in the gym and crush it! But when it comes to a meal plan, a diet, just simple everyday eating I could use all the help I can get. I know what I should eat but maybe it’s just a case of motivation and sticking with it? What works for you?

I just want to feel as beautiful as I can on my wedding day and love my body. I want to do this for myself. For those of you who have had successful weight loss journeys, what’s your secret?


Keeping Track with Fitbit


No, this post isn’t sponsored. This is just me being totally into something health related for once in my life. I’m totally into my new fitness routine – it’s true what they say, once you start to see results its hard to stop. Maybe I’ve never quite seen results like this in the past, and I still have a long way to go, but I’m more dedicated than I’ve been in the past and this time I have help in tracking my weight, calories burned and taken in, and all of my exercise! And it’s all so easily done with the help of Fitbit.

I’ve had a Fitbit for a few years but never really saw any benefits in it, mainly cause I’m a lazy so-and-so who has always disliked anything active. But a few months ago I really tried to get into tracking everything health and fitness related….and then I put my Fitbit through the wash. Whoops! Time for a new one, so I upgraded from the Fitbit Flex to the Fitbit Charge HR! I went from simply tracking steps and calories burnt as well as manually inputting exercise, food and sleep, to tracking steps, kilometres, calories burnt, automatic exercise tracking, sleep tracking and heart rate tracking.

This simple technology is pushing me to reach my goals and stay on track. I’m so disappointed on the days that I don’t reach my calorie out and in goals, or if I don’t reach my 10,000 steps of the day. And I’m constantly comparing my results with my friends…I can get a little competitive. And one of my favourite things about the Fitbit Charge and Charge HR is that it’s also a caller ID right on your wrist when it’s connected to your phone. Great for me at work!

I haven’t lost lbs yet, but I’ve lost numbers in my measurements!! Thanks to my Fitbit for keeping me on track and kicking my butt.




With my three months of free time I got myself a gym membership at my local all women’s GoodLife Fitness. After a few sessions with a personal trainer to set me off, I’ve been busting my butt at the gym every few days for the last three months, and have even enjoyed several group classes. Now that I’ve been busy with work it hasn’t been as easy to get to the gym, but the one class that is never hard to get off the couch for is ZUMBA! I’ve fallen in love and have the most fun dancing around and sweating my bum off three nights a week.

It’s like the most awesome workout ever. You burn a ton of calories and don’t even realize it. Its a class that combines latin and international music with simple and effective dance steps of samba, hip-hop, salsa, meringue and mambo. It’s a workout revolution. I even have an xbox game that uses the kinect camera to watch you dancing along with the instructors and gives you a mark out of five stars per routine. It’s the only time I’ve ever willingly smiled during a workout. I don’t even consider  it a workout!
