It seems to me lately that glasses wearers are becoming the majority. Whether a reading, driving, or a once-in-a-while-when-I-get-headaches kinda person, there are few out there that don’t have something or other wonky going on with their eyes. If you’re like me and terrified to put a flimsy little piece of lubricated plastic in your eye everyday, then chances are you’re an everyday glasses wearer. So with a large plastic frame taking over the better half of my face on a regular basis, it’s important to play up that accessory; important to know the right tips and tricks to make you’re eyes pop!
Now an important thing to note is: the bigger the frame, the more toned down your eye makeup should be. The frames themselves are usually pretty dramatic so you don’t want to go overboard. It’s important to stay away from sparkles and falsies. No matter how hard you try, it’s all going to look pretty silly squished up there behind those glasses. The darker your frames the lighter you’re makeup should be, so try to pick a shade lighter than you normally would. If your frames are coloured then I would suggest as minimal as possible. A quick line with some mascara is all you’re going to need.
So to start, define your brows. I like to fill my brows in and give them a good brush into place to help my glasses frame my eyes. My brows are the only part I want to be dramatic. Next I stick to soft neutral shadows and either brown or charcoal liners to keep a soft and delicate look behind such bold frames. Sometimes I might do a quick flick with a liquid liner, but nothing too thick or too dark or else you’ll look like a raccoon. If you find that your glasses often make your eyes look small, then line your bottom water line with either a white or a nude liner to make them really pop and appear bigger, even behind your glasses. Then a good sweep of mascara over the top and bottom! Again….avoid the falsies; nothing more annoying than your lashes touching the lens.
Of course none of this will prevent me from having my glory days of full makeup, but these tips are for your everyday struggles behind those frames. Whether in the office, out running errands, or on your feet for a busy customer service work day, these tips will keep it simple, elegant and eye-popping! I can’t keep track of the amount of compliments I get daily for my glasses and my eyes! “Wow those glasses are cool! They really make your eyes pop” is heard on the daily, especially with my purple frames…..and still never fails to embarrass me and make me blush. It’s all in the simple tricks folks!
