Top 5 – March

DSC_0177

March was a weird month. Extremely uneventful and dull. My working days are getting longer and my days off are getting more and more stressful with adult life (this seems to be a reoccurring sentiment each and every month). Either way, the month was dotted with one or two days with a bit of eyeshadow, but mainly just days of cleansing and moisturizing; trying to maintain some semblance of alertness after 60 hour work weeks.

On occasion, when I actually managed to look nice this past month, I turned to my most recent favourite and coveted Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye palette. I absolutely love the neutral shades and the amazing coverage that these high quality shadows give. I’ve tried more than a dozen different looks over the past few months with this palette and I seriously can’t get enough of it! I reach for this any day that I need a bit of a pick-me-up!

Cause who says you can’t crack out a smokey eye on an uneventful Sunday? I’ve been playing around with my makeup stash recently and have been creating a few new looks that I’ve been absolutely loving, so it’s about time I shared a few of those with you. So today we’ll start with my favourite and most simple of them all, the easy smokey eye featuring my coveted Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye palette.

New Products I Can’t Wait to Try

DSC_0206

You can consider this a bit of a haul I guess; a pile of products I received for Christmas and recently purchased for myself. My face has been pretty bare lately and it’s been a solid few weeks since I’ve opened the makeup drawers, so it’s time to look into these new products and get excited for some new things to play with.

Let’s start with the most exciting, the Kat Von D Shade & Light Eye Contour Palette. As you may or may not know, this little baby has been on my wish list for about two years now. My mother-in-law must be a frequent reader since she absolutely nailed it this Christmas. This package was ripped open with a squeal of joy! I can’t wait to give this a go and test out all the different looks that you can create with this palette. Following along in the eye category is the Tarte Tarteist Clay Paint Liner and brush. A friend of mine gave me an awesome Tarte set for Christmas that included this guy, which I had previously been dying to try out. I’ve already given it a go once, but that had a disastrous outcome. YouTube is going to have to help me out with this one cause it’s just not working, but I know it can be fabulous. And last but not least for the eyes, the amazing Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara which I’ve used before in the past, but am so happy to have back in my life.

Then on to two fabulous highlights (I’ve really upped my highlight game recently). First we have the Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlighter for an iridescent highlight. Besides swatching this I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve heard amazing things. And then most exciting of it all, the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop! If you haven’t heard of this then you’re living under a rock. Expect a full review of this coming soon.

Then we have the Beauty Blender. I’m not sure why or how I’ve never picked one of these up in the past, but boy am I glad I’ve done so now. I’ve had cheaper versions of this blending sponge in the past but when people say the Original Beauty Blender is best, they’re right. Such a smooth, flawless finish. I’ve used it twice and can’t wait to make it a daily habit. Then finally we have another amazing Christmas gift, the Too Faced Melted Berry Liquified Long Wear Lipstick. My two friends and I do a makeup exchange each Christmas and this was a perfect shade picked out for me! Can’t wait to take it out on the town!

Do you have any new products you’re excited to try? Have you tried any of these? Share you thoughts friends!
