Blogmas Day 19: My Christmas Wishlist

And finally, after seeing so many gifting guides over the past week, today I share with you the coveted items that I’m lusting over this Christmas. Probably leaving this a little late, as Christmas is only 6 days away, but better late than never right?

I found this list quite difficult to put together this year. When it comes to gifting holidays I’m all about the giving and always forget about the getting, so I don’t put too much thought into it during such a hectic and busy time of year. But I thought about it for a little while and put together this small list of wonderful items that I’d be delighted to receive this Christmas! Hopefully I’m on Santa’s Nice List.

The first is the Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Palette. I’ve been swooning over this baby since it hit the shelves and each and every time I’m in Sephora I stop and stare, put it in my basket, then leave without it. I’m not quite sure why. Probably has something to do with the fact that I think I have way too many eyeshadow palettes, but then that’s not really a thing, right? This is a gorgeous palette of neutral and warm matte shades for the perfect smokey and contoured eyes. Just like the Kat Von D Shade and Light contour palette, it’s amazing formula’s and super long lasting. I love Kat Von D.

I’ve really been loving bits and pieces of my skin care routine lately, but I’m still lacking in something. Just not sure what it is yet. So I’d love to try some new and well known skin care brands and saviours and with holiday gift sets out this would be the best time to sample and try new brands. I’d love a set such as the Fresh Skincare Heroes, the Sunday Riley Power Couple Duo or the Caudalie Instant Radiance Set.

Next, is the Original Beauty BlenderI don’t have one .How is it that I don’t have one? No clue. But I’ve really gotten into sponge application of my liquid foundations recently and my cheap Ulta version just ain’t doing it for me.

I’ve really been into reading witty and insightful books by some pretty influential ladies recently (as you may have seen from my Book Lovers Gift Guide) They might not be Malala or Hilary Clinton, but they’re quite influential in their own fields and have some pretty awesome stuff to say. I’d love to read Drew Barrymore’s Wildflower, a book of Drew’s life and adventures since she was 14.

Since I’ve been upping my camera game lately I’ve been taking so many more pictures and having so much fun with it! I’m still on the lookout for a new camera lens as the auto focus on mine is busted, but I still have to do the research and shop around before I shell out a few hundred bucks for one. But in the meantime, I’d love to get a cool lens for my iPhone 6 Plus camera! The iPhone camera is amazing quality and sometimes I actually reach for my phone rather than my Nikon. This set can be found on Amazon for $12.99 and comes with a Fish Eye, Wide Angle and Micro lens attachments to clip on to your iPhone! That would be awesome!

What do you have on your list this year?

Kat Von D True Romance Palette Poetica

A beautiful new eyeshadow palette fell into my lap not too long ago and at a steal too! Regularly priced at $39, I found the Kat Von D True Romance eyeshadow palette Poetica for only $14 at Marshalls! SCORE! At first glance I didn’t think I’d get much use out of these colours, but after a few weeks of testing and playing I’ve grown quite attached to this little palette of wonderous colours and their amazing formulas. Let’s take a closer look.

The cute little compact comes with 8 different eyeshadow shades with two neutrals, three purples, a white, black and copper orange. From left to right you have Forgiveness (pearly butter cream), Sand Timer (pearly sand), Chandelier (pearly copper), Tijuana (black and brown with gold sparkle), Wonderland (dark burgundy with pearly gold), Skiba (purple with pearly gold), Babe (lavender), and You Alone (matte vanilla). The palette also comes with a mini waterproof Puro Amor Black Autograph Pencil Liner!

You can probably tell from the swatches that the two neutral shades are actually quite translucent and aren’t as bold as Kat Von D shadows tend to be. But the remaining 6 shades are bright and bold and the buttery formula creates amazing colour and coverage after only one swipe! All 8 of the shadows have a lovely shimmer, but of course Tijuana and Wonderland do create a more sparkly eye. Don’t get discouraged from these swatches through. The sparkles are subtle and are perfect for accents and to add a little something. I love using Tijuana under the lower lashes for a little pop!

Ps. Just like all other Kat Von D shadows and products, these eyeshadows are created without the use of parabens, but ARE formulated with rose extracts, keeping your lids moisturized all day and lengthening the wear of your shadows!

Have you ever tried Kat Von D eyeshadows? Which are your favourite?

Current Everyday Face

Transitioning from a minimal daily work face to a non-existent unemployed face got me in a slump and it’s been almost a month since I’ve opened my makeup drawers and took the time to enjoy my products. But with life getting a little more normal, and job interviews popping up here and there, it was time I got into a routine for this seasons daily face.

I’ve continued to keep it pretty minimal. I start with Laura Mercier Lightweight Flawless Covereage Tinted Moisturizer for sheer, all over light coverage and pair it with the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eye Concealer for all the dark spots. After a quick brush of the Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot Powder, I finish off the cheeks with Revlon’s Photoready Cream Blush in Pinched blended in with my finger tips. After filling in my brows with Soap & Glory’s Archery pencil, I use a few colours from the Sleek I-Divine Palette in Oh So Special; I’ve really been enjoying the pinks for this early-springtime. After a quick flick of the ever-present Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper, I sweep on the mascara with Makeup Forever’s Smokey Extravagant MascaraAll finished off with a swipe of the NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Descanso as I’m heading out the door!

So there you have it. The daily face, the travel with me current essentials, and the interview prep. What do you think of my current face? What have you been sticking with lately?
