Morning Moments for Working Girls

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like now that I’ve found myself a job I think I’m an expert on ‘working life’. ┬áBut in my previous vocation I had super early mornings and worked at such odd times that I found a morning routine that really helped me through my days and started the days off right. Now that I’m back in that groove, I’ve brought back the morning routine and can’t think of any other way to start my days off right – and so simple. It’s all pretty self-explanatory, but these are the morning moments I need every day to get the ball rolling in the right direction.

Stretch:

Whether you take the time to do yoga in the mornings, or simply just a quick stretch, there is no better way to start the day. As soon as my alarm goes off, I get out of bed and take the time to stretch out my arms, legs, and back. Simple stretches and child’s pose.

Water:

You need time to re-hydrate yourself. Both inside and out. I like to start my mornings by drinking as much water as I can, as well as taking the time to properly wash my face (I usually shower the night before). So many people start their days off with coffee or tea right away, which will simply draw more water out of your body. You need to begin well hydrated since chances are you’ll be dehydrated at some point in your day.

Mirror Time:

Of course I love to take the time to do my makeup in the mornings, but my ‘mirror time’ is more than that. Time to prepare myself for the day, give myself a little pep-talk – a run down of whats ahead. May seem silly, but a little reflection and preparation with myself in the morning helps me get started in the right mind set.

Breakfast:

Whether you’re grabbing a packaged granola bar while running out the door, or are able to sit down for a relaxing breakfast in the morning, there is nothing more important than starting your day with a meal. I’m the queen of skipping breakfast, but I see the difference in a breakfasted day and a non. It simply takes 5 minutes – give yourself a little extra time, or plan ahead the night before.

I like my mornings to be relaxed. They may be slightly rushed, but I plan everything the night before, lay out my clothes and make my lunch. That way I can simply wake up and prepare to leave the house rather than prepare for everything happening in my day. I take that time the night before. It’s simple, common sense morning moments that everyone should make a habit.

What do you like to do in the morning before work?
