Sunday Pamper

Life has been crazy lately – you’ll see that in the upcoming “Life Lately” post later this week. I’ve started a new job and I’m packing up and moving. Seems like I’m always busy, always stressed, and always on the move. So on Sunday’s it’s time to relax and pamper myself. I think I deserve it.

My idea of pamper comes in many different shapes and sizes. But at this busy time my pamper comes in the form of a nice long bath with a good mask, a good candle and a good book. Today I’m using the Lush Cinders Bath Bomb, a sweet and spicy Holiday bath bombs that’s great for the upcoming cold nights – it has vegan popping candy and cinnamon leaf oil for a relaxing fizz.  I’ve been loving the Glamglow ThirstyMud Hydrating Treatment Mask which I bought just a small sample size of, but similar to the other Glamglow products I’ve been using, I know I’ll be buying more. I love how hydrated and fresh my face feels. I further relax with what I think it one of the most sensual and relaxing candle’s I’ve ever found. Bath and Body Work’s Aromatherapy Stress Relief Eucalyptus Spearmint candle. And the enjoy the long, relaxing bath I’ve been reading Mindy Kaling’s new book “Why Not Me”, a hilarious and entertaining read that I’ve been loving (book review to follow).

How do you relax on Sundays? What is your favourite quick mid-week relaxing tip?

My “Finally Home” Pamper Routine

DSC_0149

“I’m finally home!” has been my sigh of relief once every two weeks for the past six months. I’m finally home! Even if only for a few days. And with finally being able to sleep in my own bed and cuddle my cat, there comes a coveted pamper routine that has become tradition. Staying in hotels and having to pack within weight restrictions puts a damper on pamper while on the road. So once I’m home the traditional routine commences.

Now the routine is not as intense as people may assume. I’m not really one for at home facial peels or foot scrubs. It’s simply things I’m unable to do while travelling. I always start by lighting a candle and taking a bath. I like to use very relaxing scents,  such as the Bath and Body Works French Lavender candle, as well as relaxing soaks in the bath, such as epsom salts and oils like The Body Shop’s Coconut Beautifying Oil. I also apply a deeply nourishing hair mask and a face mask while I’m in the tub, the perfect amount of time for each to work it’s magic. I’ve been loving the L’Oreal Power Moisture Rush Mask (leave in hair for 5-8 minutes then rinse out) for some much needed moisture, as well as the Origin’s Clear Improvements Charcoal Mask to do some down and dirty deep cleaning of my sure-to-be clogged pores. After a long soak, often accompanied with a cup of tea or wine, I dry myself off, slather on The Body Shop’s Satsuma Body Butter and have a go at my hair. With very curly hair I brush only about once every two weeks or else I’ll damage the natural curls. So I give it a good spritz of It’s a 10 Miracle Leave in with Keratin and go at it with my hot pink Tangle Teezer

Now the only thing left to do is put on my onesie, refill the wine, and cuddle on the couch with some Netflix! There is nothing more relaxing than my ‘finally home’ pamper routine and I look forward to it on every journey home!

What do you look forward to after being away?

Sunday Pamper

Image

Everyone knows that Sunday is the lazy day of the week. The day to sleep late, stay in PJ’s, and pamper yourself with bubble baths and face masks – dreading the early wake up for work the next day. This week I experienced a bit of change at work (good change…don’t worry) and its left me absolutely exhausted. And on top of that, Corey and I adopted a kitten on Saturday morning and the little tyrant thought it was better to pounce at our feet all night rather than let us sleep. So I was in need of some pampering and relaxation today.

– I started with a wonderfully bubbly bubble bath. I used Philosophy Field of Flowers, a bottle which I’ve had for awhile and recently had to remove from the clutches of my mother, reclaiming it as mine own. Philosophy: flowers brighten any day – says so right on the bottle. The scent is magnolia blossom and it can be used as shampoo, shower gel and/or bubble bath, which is the only way I’ve ever used it before. The smell is so relaxing!! And I look forward to a bath every time I know I have this in the cupboard.

– While in the bath I wore one of my favourite face masks – The Body Shop’s Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask. I know that I have stopped using a lot of the products in the Seaweed Line due to the fact that it strips my face of too much moisture/oils. The line is meant for people with oily/extremely oily skin, and mine is a combination although more on the dry side in the winter. Due to the fact that it dries out my face too much if I leave it on too long, I wash the mask off the moment it completely dries although in the summer I like to leave it on for much longer. I love the smell of it, and I love the way my face feels at the end.

– Finally…..to add all the moisture back into my face I used a few drops of Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil. I was always really skeptical to use oils on my face, thinking that they would make my ‘sometimes’ oily face into an ‘always’ oily face. Yet with just a few drops I get the perfect amount of moisture – especially over night. Then with a good face-wash the next morning I have a well moisturized face, no oils. Perfect. And it just feels so good!!
