Recent Non-Beauty Favourites

DSC_0147 The Winter season is always the busiest at work. Long days, early mornings, and little time for makeup and pamper. The little moments that I’ve been able to put aside for myself have been filled with relaxation and some alone-time; truthfully I just couldn’t be bothered to worry about makeup. So over the past weeks a few items have stood out and become my go-to relaxation me-time items and surprisingly they’re all non-beauty related!

My favourite of them all was a Christmas present to myself: the Sony ExtraBass Headphones that I got on sale in Staten Island. Nothing relaxes me after a long day then plugging them in and blasting my music. And to go along with the blasting music, I’ve become obsessed with an iPhone game: Hay DayCan you say nerd much?

Along with the Bath and Body Works Mason Jar Candles I’ve become quite attached to my Vera Bradley Notepad for keeping me organized, as well as my bright orange Joe Fresh Ideas notebook that I’ve turned into my own weight-loss journal. I’ve been keeping track of food, exercise and I’ve filled it full of motivation and goals. I’m hoping to show it to you guys soon, and hoping that my vigilance of tracking pays off.

And finally I’ve been reading a lot again lately and I’ve realized I’ve really missed it! I’m currently reading Ken Follett’s Winter of the World, which is the second book of the Century Trilogy. I love Ken Follett’s books! He’s a historian primarily and is an amazing fiction author. Combined, he creates amazing fictional stories that are incredibly historically accurate, just my kinda book! I highly recommend it!

So there you have it, my current non-beauty favs. Do you have any recent favourites?

Vera Bradley Weekend Duffle

(Vera Bradley Large Duffle in Canterberry Cobalt)

I finally have my hands on a Vera Bradley large duffle bag. I’ve been in love with the Vera Bradley prints and patterns since I was about 12 years old and although many people say they’re only for old ladies I beg to differ. I think these patterns are classic, and can be for everyone. As a large American company, these Vera Bradley bags can usually only be found online or in the states. I picked mine up in Boston a few weeks ago.

The bag is the perfect size for a few days of travel. Some may think it’s too big for just a weekend but Corey and I pack it together, and its perfect for long weekends. The bag comes in 15 different patterns, including plain black, and only costs about $85. No breaking the bank here. And the perfect part is that they are carry-on compliant, they’ll fit in any overhead compartment or under any seat.  I think they’re trendy, cute, classic, and adorable. And I love my new weekend travel bag. Now I just need to plan more weekend trip!

Do you like the Vera Bradley patterns? What is your favourite weekend bag?

Wishlist – Christmas

Christmas-time is less than 10 days away!! So it might be a little late for this wish list. It was hard this year to put together a list. After spending so much money on my big move I just couldn’t justify any Christmas gifts…but I caved and I’ve come up with a small list of things that I would love to get for Christmas, or things that I think are great gifts for others (friends, sisters, girlfriends (hint hint Corey)). Image

1. Diptyque Feuille de Lavande: I’ve always wanted a Diptyque candle. I just can’t justify spending that much moola on a candle. They’re gorgeous though. The smell is amazing and makes me weak in the knees. I haven’t even smelt this scent before…but lavender is one of my favourite things in this world. The jars are so gorgeous and I love the idea of reusing them as well.

2. Jo Malone Wild Bluebell Perfume: Another thing that I’ve wanted for a long time. I thought I was gonna get one of these for my birthday but it never came. I love Jo Malone. I often spend about a half hour in Holts smelling each individual perfume, and I have such a hard time picking out which one I like best. The rose perfume that came out at the end of the summer is also a winner.

3. Vera Bradley Weekend Bag: I’ve always had a bit of a love for Vera Bradley patterns. I had a really tacky Vera Bradley bag when I was younger and a co-worker of mine makes fun of me non-stop for liking the patterns. We can’t get Vera Bradley in Canada, but since I’ve been traveling to the States for work so often I’ve seen a lot of it. I’ve always wanted this large quilted weekend bag, and now that I’ve found that it comes in a plain black colour I love it even more. Perfect for all the travelling I do.

4. Urban Decay Naked 2: I know that Naked 3 just launched last week, but I’m just not into the pink tones and light colours. I was always really really into the original Naked palette, but I recently decided that Naked 2 was the way to go, plus I just really like the packaging – a metal snap shut is really much better than fabric and magnets.

5. Longbourn by Jo Baker: I am a Pride and Prejudice junkie. Everything about the book, the movies, the soundtrack, the version with zombies, the fan fiction, the paraphernalia, etc. etc. I love it all. It is the worlds greatest love story. He was too proud, she was too prejudice. sigh. SO this new book came out recently and it’s on Heathers List (for those of you who don’t know, thats the CEO of Chapter’s reading list) – The book is about the story of Pride and Prejudice from the point of view of the Bennett family’s servants. Thats gonna be a cool twist. My mom and I are both so excited to read it!

Whats on your Christmas Wishlist this year?!
