Empties #5

IMG_2859

Boy do I feel accomplished when I’m able to squeeze the last drop out of a product. And once again I have an overflowing pile of garbage that I save in a corner of my room to share with you guys (still…almost two years later Corey can’t understand this). I love reading these posts from other bloggers to see what they liked enough to use up completely, as well as whether or not the products are worth re-purchasing. I’m a sucker for a good empties post. And because of that these are some of my favourite posts to share with you guys. So lets delve into the pile of garbage…..

For the first time in quite awhile I have a few makeup items in the pile. After cracking my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder on my way home from Mexico a few months ago, it was only a short time later that the remaining few crumbs spilled out everywhere and were no longer usable. I absolutely loved this powder and wonder why I purchased a completely different powder to try out rather than replacing this one. It’s definitely one of my favourites. I also finished two liquid eyeliners – the Lancome Artliner as well as the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. I absolutely love the Kat Von D liner and have already, and always will, repurchase. My favourite of all time. The Lacome Artliner was great, but I struggle with the brush – too delicate. I end up with two uneven wobbly lines.

Moving on to the mass of beauty products, I didn’t bother including the regular empty bottle of Catwalk Curl Amplifying Cream that makes an appearance in every empties post, but there were a few new ones. L’Oreal’s Power Rush Moisture Mask for hair was amazing and lasted a long time. Smells great and makes my hair so soft. Definite repurchase. For my face we  have a few Body Shop items including the Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet, my all-time favourite day cream. We also have the Vitamin E Cream Cleanser which I liked, but didn’t love. I prefer lathering face washes. As we all know I ADORE the Vitamin E line from TBS. I also finished up the Aloe Protective Serum, which I will most likely repurchase. I think it’s a great serum for the summer months. And finally, the last face product was my longest running repurchase item: the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, which I will repurchase the moment I see any sign of the bottom. Ever. Single. Night.

Two last (and random) products. Quo’s Nail Polish Remover Pump has been the best remover i’ve tried in a long time. So easy to use and takes all polish off quick! I’ve already repurchased. A really old YSL Babydoll perfume was finally spritzed to the last drop – it’s about time. And lastly, Degree’s Motionsense Dry Spray anti-perpirant in Fresh Energy. I picked this up to see what I felt about the new ‘dry spray’ fad, and wasn’t quite sold. It took a few days to get the correct balance and how much was required, and on a daily bases I felt like I was breathing in deodorant fumes. Not pleasant. I’ll stick to my wind-up sticks thanks.

What have you used up lately? Have you tried any of these?

Review: The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Line

DSC_0178

We all know I love The Body Shop. Rarely do I write a post that does not include a Body Shop item. And so today I thought I’d share with you my love for an entire line of The Body Shop’s products: the Vitamin E line.

Formulated to nourish aging skin and protect against environmental damage, this line of Body Shop products leaves skin amazingly moisturized and baby soft. Don’t call me an old lady till you’ve tried it! This definitely is not only for the aging demographic. As a tester of all other Body Shop lines, this is the only line of which I have fallen in love with each and every single item that I use. And I keep going back for more.

I started with the Vitamin E Moisture Cream (just a sample size) about a year ago after having a bad reaction to The Body Shop’s Seaweed Line. When I returned to The Body Shop to explain to them what had happened, they promised me that any irritations on my face would heal and disappear with the use of the Vitamin E line. So I gave it a shot. I proceeded to use this Moisture Cream every single morning as my day cream, and I was hooked. Soon after I got hooked on the Vitamin E Body Butter and I believe my life changed completely. When I say I love this product I’m holding back. Words cannot describe the feeling. This was used up quickly and I can’t wait to repurchase…I have to get through my other Body Butters first. I then added the Vitamin E Cream Cleanser to the collection. This cleanser effectively removes makeup without the need to use a makeup remover as well, and leaves my skin feeling amazingly soft.

Last winter, when I was struggling with dry cracked hands, I added the Vitamin E Hand & Nail Treatment. Knowing that the Vitamin E line was a superhero in moisture, I knew this would help me along the way! It may not repair serious damage to cracked hands (I fixed mine with medicated cream), but it certainly does prevent further damage and leaves hands and nails soft and strong.

This summer I got crazy and delved even further into the Vitamin E love. You may have already heard me talk a lot about the Vitamin E Face Mist, which has been a sunburn, air conditioning, weather beaten savouir. One spritz is an instant refresher and moisture boost, and I’ve started using it almost daily right out of the shower. Then there’s the Vitamin E Moisture Serum, which I have started using as a pre-moisturizer in my nightly routine, switching it up between this and the Aloe Protector Serum from The Body Shop. It moisturizes, smooths and protects and continues working over time for long-lasting protection. And finally, my most recent addition to the collection may be my favourite of them all (or second to the Body Butter), the Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet. This has been a hot new item on the shelves of the Body Shop, and works wonders! As I recently ran out of the Moisture Cream that I use daily, I returned to the Body Shop to replace it and was talked into this little guy. Instantly sold after one use. It feels like cool water on my face and the feeling is amazing. My skin instantly drinks it in for an all day, long-lasting moisture that is to die for!!

So there you have it! My Body Shop love affair with the Vitamin E line. Ever tried it?

Top 5 – May

The days are getting longer and warmer, and I feel that my love of the sun is reflected in the products I’ve been loving this past month.

1. Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream – Seeing as I have a slight tan at the moment, I’ve been looking for something with much lighter coverage. Nothing worse than wearing the same foundation while tanned as your pasty face wore all winter. White face much? That’s why this BB Cream has been working wonders. BB creams, as most of you probably know, are tinted moisturizers rather than full coverage foundations. This Smashbox BB Cream is also broad spectrum SPF 35! Most foundations are only around 15 if they have any SPF at all. This is why I think this little guy will be a fav for the summer.

2. Revlon Photo Ready Cream Blush in Pinched – I was really unsure of this one when I picked it up a few months ago. As much as I love Revlon products I always have an internal struggle when purchasing due to the fact that there are rarely testers in the local Shoppers. But I chanced this one and was pleasantly pleased. The light pink cream blush has a sweet dewey finish and is such a simple and subtle cheek colour. I always apply cream blushes with my finger tips, but you can also use a stippling brush or a round headed foundation brush.

3. Origins GinZing Eye Cream – I’m pretty sure I’ve discussed my love of this before. Such a refreshing feeling. It instantly brightens and de-puffs my eyes and now that the weather is getting so sunny and warm I’m really enjoying a brighter, fresher look to my face! This has become a staple of my pre-makeup routine. A little moisturizer and GinZing Eye Cream make for an important start to my day! Can’t wait to try more Origins products. Any suggestions?

4. The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist – Once again I’m discussing my love of the Body Shop’s Vitamin E line. I’ve mentioned it a lot lately. I just love it so much. And this little baby is no exception. The Vitamin E Face Mist is perfect after my morning face wash. It instantly refreshes and moisturizes my face with a boost of vitamin E to prepare it for the day. With air conditioning pumping through every building I step into nowadays, my skin has been drying out pretty fast (just after I fixed the dry damage from the winter – can’t catch a break). So a spritz of this is required.

5. L’Oreal Magic Lumi Concealer – It’s taken me awhile to warm up to this one, and I’m still not entirely convinced. I don’t use concealer on a regular basis but lately when I do use it I find myself reaching for this one. I’ve head a lot of great things about it from other bloggers so I’ve stuck with it. The shade I have (Light 862) is a perfect match for me. I’m going to stick with it!

So there you have it. My top 5 of May. I’m so excited to be into the warm weather and summer months now, and I can’t wait to delve further into the world of makeup as my blog is coming upon it’s 1 year anniversary!! Thanks for reading my friends! And happy shopping.
